Memorial Art students crushed the Scholastics Art Awards this year!

22 Memorial students won a total of 35 Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention awards. Most notably, senior Emily Dahl won a "Best in Show" Award for her Gold Key winning mixed-media work "Sinister", and senior Olivia Horne won a National Silver Key for her photograph "A Bug's Perspective", which also won a Gold Key in the New Hampshire Regional Scholastic Art Awards competition.

Also winning Gold Keys in the NH Regional competition were senior Isabella Bowden for her work of ceramics "Mary's Lamb" and junior Selena Ortiz for her photograph "Reflection". The full list of winners is attached.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the oldest, largest, most prestigious competition in America that recognizes outstanding achievement in the visual arts by young people. Famous artists and writers who won awards when they were in high school include Andy Warhol, Steven King, Richard Avedon, Joyce Carol Oats and many many others.
